Chapter 11 Response
For the traditional audio media, I think one of the most effective would be the talking book. Since I would like to be a preschool or kindergarten teacher when I graduate, I think this would really benefit my students. My students can listen to a book being read while following along and learn the basics of reading while listening along, and afterwards they can try and retell the story to me, while reading along, that way they can hear it before the speak it. For the emerging audio media technology I think the most effective would have to be the Cd's. For the children's nap time, if it is indeed incorporated in my classroom, each child can choose which CD they would like to listen to, in order for them to fall asleep quicker. They can each bring in a CD and that way the children can sleep during nap time, not laugh and talk the whole time. Of the visual technologies, the thing I think i would use the most would have to be under the nonprojected category. I think I would use the hands on posters the most, because when learning about the senses, they can identify the things on the poster that they can find by smelling, by hearing, by seeing. This would help them everyday as well, if they are constantly hung around the classroom. Of the emerging visual technologies I think I would use the document cameras the most. Because when teaching my students the alphabet.i can freeze the document with the letter F on it, and have the kids tell me what the letter is and identify items in the room that begin with that letter. And that way I don't have to worry about the paper falling off and the kids getting distracted. It will be there for them all to see and I'm sure there are plenty more ways to use this besides my one method. All of these technologies can be incorporated in my classroom, and they will all help my students in many different ways.
Chapter 6 response
According to the information in chapter 6, I think I would prefer to teach in a classroom with digital technology. The reason for that is because it causes your students to be open to more resources outside just the standard computer. When using scanners you can scan things that cannot be brought into the classroom. Using the Pen Input Devices can help the students to take notes faster, and when it is hooked up they can present their notes for the classroom and help other students who are slower at writing them. Touch screens can be used for hands on learning and help the students to touch items that they truly want to select. Also electronic whiteboards can be used for visualization purposes. Teachers can write on them, and if the students are not keeping up with the notes, they can download them to a computer using a scanner. All of these resources and more can help teachers incorporate many things into their classrooms, and it can open many doors for technology for the students. And these are all reasons why I would prefer to teach in a classroom with digital technology.
